REFLECTION

WHY DIDN’T IT GROW?

For my bean stalk project I used coffee grounds and sugared water. First I’m going to talk about my coffee bean project and how one grew and the other didn’t. I think the coffee grounds didn’t grow because it was over watered but still I think if we didn’t over water it wouldn’t have any extra growth because one of our coffee plants grew but it grew with the same patterns as the control plant. I noticed also when it was growing it seemed like it was a little floppy so I’m guessing it was way over watered after it started growing. The plant in the end grew to be seven centimeters, and 2.48 grams. I think I should have watered it a little less and then made sure that I didn’t under water it either.
Next I’m going to talk about my sugar water plant. Obviously I didn’t grow because right after we finished we figured out that sugar was horrible for a bean plant because it automatically kills the seed, though the sugar helps spider plants. In this project I felt my group and I were careless about what we put in the plant because I think we thought that the plant grow no matter what that’s why I think this was a good learning experience. I think what we could have done better was obviously not put sugar in the first place, got a little more research done, and made sure my partners and I could understand what all of our ideas were because we didn’t really talk about our own ideas but we automatically assumed that sugar would make the plant grow way faster.
I felt this project was a great learning experience and it really showed how we grow and the plats grow, but we all need certain things to keep us alive like the bean plants needed less water and NO SUGAR. Though one of my plants grew my other once didn’t so obviously I need to work on my listening skills and not take to much risks so instead of just assuming that my first idea would work, and make sure my idea would be ok with my partners and my information source as well. Also I feel that I wasn’t really into the project until I really figured out why we where doing it and why we had to work so hard on it.
